Howard County Historical Society Museum- Donor Wall

Howard County Historical Society’s Museum needed a donor wall designed.  As I have mentioned previously visiting the space is the first step in any design.  The museum is located in a historic church.  There is a lot of wood and the lighting is dim in many areas of the space.  The design needed to be modular to accomodate the possible addition of names in the future.

I wanted to add color and depth into this space, but I had to be mindful of the materials used.  There was already an abundance of wood textures within the space so I wanted to avoid adding more.  Acrylic and metal would have acheived the color and depth but these materials felt too modern for the space.  I settled on sintra in multiple thicknesses for the design.

The design itself includes colors used within other exhibits inside the museum.  The squares were used to fill the space and keep the design modular.  All of the photos were pulled from the Historical Society’s archives.  These images can later be replaced with more names.
